What you describe is like that of a confluence of effects going through a magnifying glass, focusing in to occasionally fry an ant. The daunting task of coordinating available sensors to predict potential focal points~
Could a large enough gamma ray burst cause a global Extinction event? Like what happened to the dinosaurs. And medium-sized one would have a localized event?
If we do get a real-time warning system established in the future what precautions can be taken for those at risk?
Which would have more of an effect a Direct Hit or a Ricochet where it bounces off the inside repeatedly like skip on a ham radio?
