    Thinking about a micronova scenario, but applying it to Venus. Among the many effects, we can expect some level of photodissociation of various molecules under bombardment by the incoming photon release. I would assume this is going to be immense across a large range of energy levels.

    For us on Earth, I would expect some effects moderate effects, but compared to the incoming dust shell, probably not much to worry about in the big scheme of things. Especially in this scenario where we have enough debris to potentially scatter much more of the photon output.

    Potentially more intriguing – what might happen on Venus? With a significant CO_2 atmosphere, the rate of decomposition from CO_2 directly to C and O_2 could be significant. (https://cen.acs.org/articles/92/i40/Carbon-Dioxide-Dissociates-Yield-Molecular.html for an example of the path straight to C and O_2 instead of to CO and O). Enough to turn post-micronova Venus into a place more hospitable for life? Add to the potential to shed some atmosphere and convert a fraction to Oxygen, makes me wonder if a few cycles from now Venus might not begin to flower – or at least pond scum over a bit…
