    I thought we are also leaving a dusty part of space & entering a clearing. Thus cosmic rays are not filtered~

      Guessing that would be an unknown. We also have ‘unknown unknowns’ like flux surges. Iirc, supernovas are thought to be evidenced through isotope analysis in way old trees and in ice cores. There might well be undiscovered approaching matter, even from other types of source event.
      When I was a kid, I slayed my first fear monster by deciding to deal with it if and when it appeared. This seems kind of like that. Cheers.
