So what do we have there? I was merely attempting to show a few of the best images from Ida in the central Atlantic. Ida will not end up threatening much of anyone, but its static position and low shear allow us to see just how much like a sunspot our earthspots really are. No groundbreaking progress here – just one of the better earthspot examples in a while – especially in the expression of the penumbral ridges.
